HISTORY
Northwest Podiatric Laboratory began in 1964 with Dennis Brown, our founder and president, and a single employee. Dennis was introduced to the podiatric profession and, more specifically, the orthotic manufacturing business by chance. A lifelong passion was quickly born. Soon, Northwest Podiatric Laboratory was serving a small but growing number of healthcare professionals and hardcore skiers, crafting innovative solutions for foot pain sufferers and athletes alike.
In 1974, a crucial meeting took place that would change the shape of the orthotic industry. That year, Dennis met with longtime friend Dr. Chris Smith, a biomechanics professor at the California College of Podiatric Medicine. Their topic was the emerging field of sports medicine, and even though many orthotic companies were vying for a position in this new market, most of them were merely repackaging older, outdated products. Dennis and Chris wanted to do something more. The rest is history.
